As per a report by Axios, Meta is in the process of separating its artificial intelligence branch into two distinct teams. At this time, the artificial intelligence (AI) staff of the company will be assigned to either an AI products team or an AGI Foundations unit. Without a doubt, there have been no job cuts.
The Artificial Intelligence Products team will concentrate on working on consumer-facing projects including as the AI capabilities that are integrated into Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, in addition to Meta’s new AI app that is standalone.
A greater emphasis will be placed by the AGI Foundations team on activities that are more comprehensive, such as the enhancement of its Llama models.
In light of the fact that businesses such as OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic are making movements, Meta is doing everything in its power to maintain a competitive edge over its rivals. Recently, the company introduced a program called Llama for Startups with the intention of encouraging early-stage businesses to use their technologies for applications that involve generative artificial intelligence.
During this time, Meta’s LlamaCon event, which took place in April, was primarily focused on demonstrating that it is capable of competing with OpenAI.
