By integrating Gemini Live with Google Calendar, Maps, Tasks, and Keep apps on both Android and iOS devices, Google has significantly increased the AI assistant’s functionality beyond simple chat.
The functionality, which was initially revealed at Google I/O 2025 in May, allows users to instantly control their personal data with voice commands. Now, without ever leaving the conversation interface, users may ask Gemini Live to take notes, make task reminders, establish calendar events, and provide directions.
Integration Of Real-Time Apps
Voice commands are smoothly integrated; for instance, users can ask generic questions like “Do I have any reminders today?” or “Create a new task in Tasks” to elicit answers.
9to5Google claims that the feature also has a “Undo” button for operations like creating lists, which enables users to swiftly alter tasks using both voice and touch controls. The connection expands the assistant’s usefulness for Galaxy phone users by extending to Calendar, Notes, and Reminders apps on Samsung smartphones.
Integration Of Camera And Screen
The camera and screen-sharing features of Gemini Live are compatible with the app integration. Gemini Live will automatically pull date information from physical calendars or event posters when users aim their phone at them, creating calendar events. This feature makes use of the visual recognition technology that Google released earlier this year for free on all iOS and Android devices.
Wider Audience Reached By A Gradual Rollout
The deployment has been sluggish, even though some customers were granted access during restricted testing in late June. On iOS devices and Android smartphones running Android 15 and 16, the integration is now visible in both stable and beta versions of the Google app. The fact that the capability doesn’t seem to be limited to any particular app version indicates that Google is enabling it via server-side upgrades.
By extending its capabilities beyond simple information requests to access users’ personal data throughout Google’s ecosystem, Google is attempting to make Gemini Live a more proactive and individualized AI assistant.
