The whole federal executive branch staff will have access to ChatGPT Enterprise for the upcoming year at virtually no cost. For a small fee of $1 per agency for the upcoming year, participating U.S. federal agencies will get access to our cutting-edge models via ChatGPT Enterprise.

Making powerful AI tools available throughout the federal government allows employees to spend more time serving the American people and less time on paperwork and red tape, fulfilling a key tenet of the Trump Administration’s AI Action Plan(opens in a new window).

Improving government operations by making services quicker, simpler, and more dependable is a crucial step in ensuring that everyone benefits from AI. At OpenAI, we think that the use of AI should be shaped by public servants. Giving them access to the best AI tools available, along with strict regulations, high levels of transparency, and a profound regard for their public mission, is the best approach to do it.

The potential of AI to assist public officials is already evident. Employees of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania who used ChatGPT in a recent pilot program saved an average of roughly 95 minutes a day on ordinary tasks(opens in a new window). In a different 12-week pilot(opens in a new window) with the Department of State Treasurer in North Carolina, 85% of participants said they had a good experience using ChatGPT. All public employees should have access to the greatest technology available, whether they are handling intricate budgets, assessing national security risks, or running their daily workplaces.

In keeping with this endeavor, OpenAI will offer:

  • Universal Access to ChatGPT Enterprise: For a small annual price of $1, ChatGPT Enterprise will provide all participating U.S. federal agencies with access to our cutting-edge models. OpenAI will grant unrestricted access to sophisticated models and features, such as Deep Research and Advanced Voice Mode, for an extra sixty days.
  • Educational Resources and Training: We have established a government user community (opens in a new window) and customized introductory trainings through the OpenAI Academy (opens in a new window) to help federal personnel feel comfortable utilizing AI. To assist staff members in exploring and utilizing AI, there are also specialized training platforms and guided learning options accessible, either directly or through partner-led sessions. Additionally, we’re collaborating with seasoned partners Slalom and Boston Consulting Group to ensure safe, responsible implementation and trainings so that federal agencies can get the most out of ChatGPT.
  • Security and Compliance: It’s imperative to safeguard private data. Ensuring agencies can employ AI responsibly and securely is our aim. Currently, ChatGPT Enterprise does not train or enhance OpenAI models using business data, including inputs or outputs. For government use, the same protections will be in place.
We can assist government workers solve problems for more people more quickly by providing them with strong, safe AI technologies.
