At the company’s Financial Analyst Day in New York on Tuesday, Lisa Su, the CEO of Advanced Micro Devices, revealed an ambitious growth strategy that positions AMD to take a bigger chunk of the rapidly expanding artificial intelligence infrastructure market. Su also stated that the chipmaker anticipates the AI data center market to reach $1 trillion by 2030.

Speaking to the Nasdaq, Su laid out expectations for the company to boost its revenue by over 35% annually over the next three to five years. During that time, the company’s data center AI division is anticipated to develop at a compound annual growth rate of 80%. A week before to the announcement, AMD revealed record-breaking third-quarter sales of $9.2 billion, a 36% year-over-year increase.

Contesting The Dominance Of Nvidia

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang predicts the larger AI infrastructure industry would reach $3 trillion to $4 trillion by 2030, which is a significant difference from AMD’s $1 trillion market expectation. Although AMD has been gradually catching up, Nvidia now holds a 90% market share in the AI chip industry.

“There’s no question, data center is the largest growth opportunity outthere, and one that AMD is very, very well-positioned for,” Su stated during the conference. Within three to five years, the company hopes to increase its market share from the current estimated 6% to double digits in the AI data center industry.

AMD’s approach revolves around its historic collaboration with OpenAI, which was announced in October 2025. The AI company plans to install six gigawatts of AMD GPUs, beginning with a single gigawatt of MI450 series chips in the second half of 2026. By 2027, the company anticipates data center AI revenue to reach tens of billions of dollars, according to Chief Financial Officer Jean Hu.

Going Beyond Accelerators For AI

Double the $500 billion Su mentioned in June, AMD’s updated $1 trillion market estimate now includes a wider range of products, such as CPUs, networking parts, and AI accelerators. In addition to targeting 40% of the client PC market, the company anticipates reaching a market share of over 50% in server CPU revenue, up from 40% at now.

Over the last five years, the chipmaker has spent over $40 billion on research and development and over $60 billion on acquisitions to bolster its AI capabilities. This includes AMD’s $4.9 billion acquisition of ZT Systems, which was finalized in March 2025 and expanded the company’s portfolio to encompass rack-scale systems design capabilities.
