The most recent music streaming service to provide an AI playlist option is Deezer. The business revealed on Monday that its “Playlist with AI” function will allow a limited group of subscribers to make personalized playlists using a text prompt.
A few months have passed since Spotify and Amazon Music began testing user-generated playlist generators powered by artificial intelligence. Additionally, a prompt-based AI radio service is allegedly being tested by YouTube.
According to Deezer, access to the beta feature will be granted to 5% of its paid users. With written instructions that identify moods, genres, decades, activities, and other characteristics, users will be able to construct their own playlists.
For example, you could ask Deezer to design a pop-rock playlist from the early 2000s specifically for your workout. Alternatively, create a playlist of upbeat songs from 2010 for your upcoming study session.
The app makes sure that the prompt is free of hate speech, hazardous material, sexually explicit material, and harassment before creating a playlist.
The vice president of product at Deezer, Alexandra Leloup, stated in a news release that “we’re excited to bring this AI-powered feature to Deezer users around the world.” “Our playlist with AI feature offers endless possibilities to easily discover new music, and will curate a new musical experience in a matter of seconds—perfect for a workout, a romantic evening, or a nostalgic trip down memory lane.”
The feature is backed by Google’s Gemini 1.5 AI model, the company told TechCrunch.
According to Deezer, it has been using AI to improve listeners’ whole app experience, including recommendations. It mentions how its standout feature, Flow, lets users combine music according to moods and genres using artificial intelligence. AI is also used by Deezer’s Song Catcher service, which functions similarly to Shazam in helping users find song names.
When the Playlist with AI beta will become generally available is yet unknown from Deezer.
