As the firm positions its AI assistant as a central platform for all of its services, Google is launching new experimental features, extending Gemini AI integration across its entire product ecosystem, and bringing AI-powered capabilities to millions of consumers globally.

Gemini Unveils Collaborative Features And Experimental Agent Mode

Testing Catalog has found that Google has started testing three new experimental settings for Gemini. “Autonomous exploration, planning, and execution” is what Google refers to as Agent Mode, the most notable addition. This functionality, which was first hinted at during Google I/O, puts Gemini in line with agentic processes like ChatGPT and enables the AI to manage multi-step activities without continual human assistance.

Two other experimental modes have surfaced: Immersive View, which promises “visual answers to your questions,” and Gemini Go, which is characterized as a tool to “explore ideas together” and seems to be intended for collaborative brainstorming. It may also interface with Google’s Canvas platform. Agent Mode has been given its own icon, indicating that it might become a permanent feature, even if these features are still in experimental stages.

Canvas, an interactive collaboration platform that enables real-time document and code creation, editing, and sharing with Gemini, has also been introduced by the company. The software makes it simple to create and update documents, allowing users to mark particular parts and request changes like tone or length. By enabling HTML and React code generation and previewing from within the UI, Canvas simplifies the coding process for developers.

Extension Of Global AI Modes And Agentic Capabilities

Following its initial release in the US, UK, and India, Google announced on August 20 that AI Mode in Search is now available in over 180 countries and territories. Users may ask sophisticated, multi-step queries with natural language answers from within search results thanks to this Gemini 2.5-powered functionality.

AI Mode can now act on behalf of users thanks to new agentic capabilities included in the expansion. When it comes to restaurant bookings, the function can handle a number of restrictions, such as party size, date, time, location, and preferred cuisine. It then searches various platforms, such as OpenTable and Resy, to display carefully chosen booking possibilities. Through the Labs experimental program, Google AI Ultra subscribers in the US can now use this functionality.

AI Mode now provides tailored search results based on user preferences and previous interactions, according to Google’s official blog. The algorithm uses discussions, map activity, and past searches to deliver personalized recommendations for dining-related queries.

Updates To The Android Interface And Auto Integration

In place of the original rounded rectangle look, Google has released a new pill-shaped overlay for Gemini on Android. With Google’s trademark four-color scheme, the new interface begins as a circle that grows into a broad pill. The Google app is available with the upgrade in both beta (16.33) and stable (16.32) versions.

Gemini integration with improved location access capabilities is coming to Android Auto. Google has introduced code that suggests Gemini will be able to access users’ “precise location” to improve navigation assistance, according to a study of version 15.1 by Android Authority. More app categories and support for digital car keys for more automakers are part of the integration.

Partnership With The Federal Government

Google’s acquisition of a federal contract through the General Services Administration to supply “Gemini for Government” services to federal agencies for $0.47 per agency until 2026 was a major organizational move. The agreement expands on Google’s current partnership that offers Google Workspace to federal agencies at a 71% savings and includes pre-built AI agents, enterprise search capabilities, multimedia creation, and extensive AI tools.

The collaboration places Google against rivals like Microsoft and OpenAI in the federal AI market and is consistent with President Trump’s America’s AI Action Plan. Federal agencies will “significantly transform their operations” with the agreement’s assistance, GSA Acting Administrator Michael Rigas stressed.

As the company looks to preserve its competitive edge in the quickly changing AI landscape, Google is committed to making Gemini the central AI platform across all of its services, from search and mobile interfaces to enterprise and government applications. This is demonstrated by the company’s thorough integration strategy.
